Another item of interest re our memorabilia.
I recently received an e-mail, via our web site, from a 1976/77 HMC student who lives on the
mainland somewhere.
A prospective employer requires evidence of her attendance at HMC in 1977. The education
department of course doesn’t have records going back that far.
Lacking anything better she remembered that she had some artwork in the 1977 Log; could we
help?
As it happens we have spare copies of the Logs for a number of years around that period (I have
them at home at the moment) so offered to copy the relevant pieces or send her the Logs.
I also pointed out that the Centenary Book Roll Call lists her name which was sourced from the
State Library Archives and that they can most probably provide her with copies of those records.
She was delighted and grateful that something of a last ditch enquiry bore fruit.

OHA Newsletter March 2015

10th March 2015

WE HAVE MADE IT!!!!   The UTAS/OHA scholarship target of $200,000 has been reached.

Warren Brewer – you are a legend.

Assistant legends –  Maxeme and Roger Tall and Ann Hopkins.

You are all well aware of the support that Maxeme and Roger Tall have given to the scholarship.

More recently Ann negotiated a $7,000 donation from the executors of the estate of her Aunt and Uncle, Phem and Ted Hopkins. Phem (Chandler) attended HHS in 1914 and Ted in 1915.

How about that! Two of our almost original old scholars have contributed, 100 years later, to this marvellous legacy initiated by Warren.

A huge thanks also to the other 314 contributors to the fund.

But!! keep on donating. Make the fund grow. We could increase the scholarship or provide another?

President Rosie advises that scholarship selections have been made for this year and we are just awaiting confirmation of their acceptance by the winners.

Next event on the calendar is the Annual Dinner at the University Club.     Friday 15th May

Same price as last year – $60 per head for a 3 course meal (alternate drop) plus a welcoming drink and priceless company. A feature of the evening will be the presentation of a Life Membership certificate to Max Brown.

We will send out a more detailed acceptance form in a few weeks time.

Next will be the function to mark the Centenary of the Association.

As foreshadowed, just the one event –

“A Lingering Lunch”

To be held In the Assembly Hall at 71 Letitia St.
